Sara Crow & co, a contemporary dance company, were creating a new piece based on a
traditional folk story and asked us to find an illustrator to graphically represent the tale and the
choreography. We took the resulting illustrations and created publicity
material for the performance which took the form of posters, postcards and a programme for the piece.
The budget constraints were tight. So we decided to take the handmade quality of folk art as a guidline.
We used selected illustrations that reflected story book art, created a font based on hand drawn letter forms and employed textured stock to create an
artifact that people would want to take home and keep. We also created a website
to promote the company.
