Sara Crow & co, a contemporary dance company, invited us to become involved in the creation of a new piece. The piece was to be based on a
traditional folk story, and she asked us to find an illustrator to graphically represent the tale and then choreographed the movement using
the illustrations. She then required publicity material for the performance which took the form of posters, postcards and a programme for the piece.
The budget constraints for this were very tight, but as we had planned from the beginning to use the illustrations for publicity we had already
negotiated rights prior to commissioning igs. By using a simple and cost effective format for each of the materials, we created an unusual look by
creating a font based on hand drawn letter forms as well as using textured stock to create an artifact that people would want to take home and keep. |
