Inner Picture was the first of a series of six exhibitions developed under the moniker Reaching Out, Drawing in, a community
education programme at the National Portrait Gallery (NPG).
Young people outside mainstream education worked with two artists to create installations and an animation based on their responses
to the NPG's collection. The biggest challenge was to create an identity for the exhibition that would both represented the NPG and
the young peoples work. We developed the idea of looking at the NPG's collection through the young peoples eyes into the chosen solution,
which was unanimously agreed upon by both the NPG and the young people.
